Virgin Wines is one of the UK’s largest direct-to-consumer wine retailers, supplying high quality products coupled with excellent customer service and innovative ways of retailing.

The company works with their network of trusted winemakers to source, create and curate collections of award-winning and exclusive wines. They sell these, alongside their growing range of beers and spirits, to their customers through their online subscription and pay as you go models.

The brief

Virgin Wine’s public relations agency approached us with a tight timeframe, asking us to deliver an ‘AIM compliant’ investor microsite in time for their IPO.

Virgin Wines had an existing website aimed at supporting their business which was managed in-house. Due to the time-constraints and sensitivities surrounding their imminent IPO, Brighter IR created a separate Investor microsite.

Project objectives:
  • Create a new investor site which follows the look and feel of the retail site, while satisfying all the requirements of AIM listed company.
  • Ensure that the new site is easily updated and maintained.
  • Deliver a user friendly, easily navigable and engaging experience for all target audiences.
  • Develop a highly flexible framework within WordPress to allow for future site evolution, additions and acquisitions.

Our approach

Working closely with Virgin and their PR company, we agreed a site structure which complied with AIM Rule 26 as well as conveyed their corporate story.

While the design took the lead from their existing customer site, we created bespoke elements which were specific to the investor site to showcase the unique content while keeping to the clearly defined brand.

We guided them on content creation to ensure that the site contained all the information that the various investor target audiences would seek out and the regulations required.

The outcome

The timeline was tight from the outset, however with a collective effort from Virgin Wines, their PR and legal teams, and the Brighter IR team, the website went live inline with the IPO in March 2021 as planned.

The site has stood the test of time and continues to deliver to the needs of their investors and other target audiences, while evolving alongside their changing communication requirements.
